Three days program of steel federation on executive body meeting and workshop successfully done from 5th january to 7th january of 2017. BMS vice president and NJCS core group member Dr. basanat Ray ji inagurated the program with his inspirational speech on BMS ideology.Sri. Two days workshop on 24th and 25 th Dec of 2016 held at RIKKS office, Rourkela. Sri.K C Mishra was the chief guest and main speaker of the program along with state General Secretary Sri. Srinivas Rao was also present on this occasion.
Agreement signed after 16 years of long waiting for around 600 TCOT employees joined RSP in between 1999 to 2006 by which they benifitted to reduce their training oeriod by 6 months.

Today on 8th July 2016, employees of Rourkela Steel Plant in support of RIKKS (BMS) protesting against SAIL's new pension scheme. BMS strongly demands for the date of effect of the new pension scheme from 01.01.2007 instead of 01.01.2012, SESBF non-merger, trainees gratuity ceiling withdraw, SESBF as the fund manager and LIC should not be the only annuity provider.
Today on 8th march 2016, International women's day celebration at RIKKS(BMS) office F/37/04.On behalf of this retired Jt.director of IGH Dr. Uma Devi was the chief guest and on her speech she described the importance of the Women's Day. Among the other guests were Smt. Rama Panda (Retired Pricipal of SAIL public school), Anjali Patel (Gen.Sec All Odisha Anganabadi Sangh), Minakhi Dhar (Famous Announcer) and Mr. Bibekananda Mohanta ( Preident of RIKKS) also present on this occasion.
On 13 December 2015 biennial General Body Meeting of Raurkela Ispat Karkhana Karmachari Sangh held in observation of Sh A Sriniwas Rao(State Gen.Sec BMS ODISHA). The conference inaugurated by Dr.B K Rai (All India VP of BMS & In charge Steel, Mines & Coal). There is present Sh Devendra Kr Pandey (All India Secretary of BMS & Dy In charge of Steel and Mines-Non Coal). Also presented Sh K C Mishra, All India Org. Secy of BMS and Sh Dilip Kr Pattanaik, Genl. Secy. Bharatiya Ispat Mazdoor Mahasangh. 500 delegates participated. Programme started with Shramik Geet, Pradeep prajjwalan and pushparpan on the photo of Bharat Mata, labour lord Vishwakarma and our prerana srot Shrdhey Dattopant Thengadi. Dr Rai delivered his inaugural speech after then Sh Himanshu Shekhar Bal submitted two years GS proceeding report and Tresurer submitted two years receipt & payment statement the house approved it. The president desolved the committee and appointed Election officer to Sh Sriniwas Rao. He constituted a new committee 32 + 8 members Executive Body in which President Sh Vivekananda's Mahanta, Working President Sh Rajendra Nath Mahanta, General Secretary Sh Himanshu Shekhar Bal Treasurer Sh Gyanesh Ponda and Org. Secretary Sh Pradosh Ponda General secretary declared Departmental Shop level committee/council Sh vivekanand Mahanta delivered presidential speech in the end session Sh K C Mishra concluded by samapan bhashan . On behalf of the decision taken in various unit level of SAIL huge numbers of workers gathered at Birsa chowk for the protest to demand bonus at RSP, Rourkela. Workers of different union in support of the joint union demonstration show their agitation peacefully and gave a strong message for complete industrial unrest on 19/11/2015 if SAIL management failed to give bonus before Diwali.
RIKKS being the recognised trade union of RSP, Rourkela organised a joint meeting on 31/10/2015 at union office F/37, Sector-04 in which all registered trade union of RSP participated as decided in the Kolakata joint meeting held on 29/10/2015 . RIKKS president and general secretary addressed the meeting and discussed briefly the plan to be executed by various union level on 4th nov 2015, the date on which management has purposed NJCS meeting to be held reagarding bonus issue.
The senior leaders of INTUC, BMS, AITUC, HMS and CITU met in a joint meeting at Kolkata on 29th october, 2015 to discuss about the next course of united action against arbitary decision of the management against non payment of annual bonus payable in the yera 2015. the annual bonus/ex-gratia is to be settled immediately after discussion in NJCS. RIKKS initiated silent protest on 26th october 2015 from 05:00 AM onwards till 5th november in favour of strike notice served to management to be done on 6th november 2015 for the payment of bonus/exgratia as soon as possible.
RIKKS gathered RSP workers to protest the bonus denied by SAIL management on 15th oct "Production and Productivity" meeting at New Delhi.
RIKKS gathered RSP workers to protest the delay in puja bonus at administratativeon 09th oct 2015 at 02:30 pm building and to include 3 BMS central leaders in the 15th october meeting to be held at New Delhi. The agitation continued till 06:00 pm and finally management agreed to include 1 from central BMS after discussing with SAIL corporate. The agitation will continue at New Delhi till the management not agreed 3 BMS central leaders.
On the occassion of 60th foundation day of BMS, RIKKS at Rourkela organized blood donation camp at Ispat General Hospital, later a general meeting with the presence of huge gathering of RSP employees at RIKKS office. On the occassion 1000 tree plantation and Swacha Bharat abhiyan also done by many volunteers and members of RIKKS.
Today on 1st of july 2015, RIKKS (BMS) the recognised trade union of Rourkela steel plant successfully done a demonstration in order to protest the violation of NJCS agreement regarding arrear's 2nd installment by SAIL management. In spite of heavy rain workers of RSP stood in support of the demonstartion for their legitmate demand.
Today on 29th of june 2015, after 12 years of long waiting, the recognised union in RSP able to sign a tripartite agreement. Today RIKKS(BMS) signed an agreement with RSP management in RLC(C) office for 4th batch of EA/SA employees who will get their 2 increments by which their basic pay will increase from Rs.1200/-. to Rs.1700/- per month grade wise. The issue was pending from 1998. It is the 1st agreement of RIKKS as a recognised union.

14th triennial state conference of Odisha has been held at Angul on 23rd and 24th march 2015. Sri Krushanna Ch. Mishra ( All India Organising Secretary of BMS) was the chief speaker along with the guest speaker the renowed columnist Mr. Santosh Mohapatra who on his speech elaborate the current trade union scenario and impact of budget 2015's on industry. The presence of state and all affiliated unions executives, office bearrer and members made the conference a memorable one.
Non-Executives of RSP(SAIL) gathered in huge numbers at Birsa chowk on 12th march 2015 from 04:00 pm to 06:00 pm to protest against the new pension proposal given by the SAIL management. Also voice raised against the HRA 5% recovery from salary, immediate payment of arrear's 2nd installment, revocation of 2 months quater provision to retired employee instead of 3 months and to implement "One organisation One pension" i.e unique pension scheme in SAIL.
Today On 01/02/2015, Hon. Cabinet Minister for Steel and Mines Shri Narendra Singh Tomar visited RIKKS (BMS) office on a official visit to RSP (SAIL). Today On 03/08/2014 RIKS (BMS) deligates met with SAIL Chairmen, Mr. C S Verma at Rourkela Guest House. Chairman greatly emphasized on maximising the production target as the profit on 1st quater has already been decreased. Mr Dilip Pattanaik ( General Secretary of Steel federation) clearly figured out major drawbacks in RSP modernization projects like BF5, SMS-II, Coke Oven Battery 6 and SP-III ect and cleared that employees are not rather its the machine and mangement the sole cause of losses in RSP. Mr Uttam Ku. DasMajumdar (President of RIKKS) raised the issues regarding trainees benefits and pointed out how this chapter been completly neglected on NJCS signed on 1st july 2014.. Mr. Bikash Haldar (Deputyl General Secretary of RIKKS) briefed on employees health issues and demanded for best quality treatment, medicine and posting of expert doctors in IGH (Ispat General Hospital) in Rourkela. On 24/06/2014 evening RIKKS(BMS) lead by sri Rajendra Mahanta and Sri Himansu Sekhar Bal had a meeting with minister (state) of Steel/Mines/labour and employment Hon. Vishnu Dev Sai in a very cordial atmosphere in his govt residence at north avenue New Delhi and later with Hon. cabinet min for Steel Mr Narendra Singh Tomer. Both the members assured us that, their ministry has already cleared the formalities for implementation of NJCS. They also gave instruction to chairman to clear the njcs as soon as possible. They also assured us that, the possibilities to re-constitute the njcs is being found out.
On 16/06/2014 RIKKS executive body met with Hon. Ministry of State. Vishnu Deo Sai ( Mines, Steel, Labour and Employment ) at Raigarh and had a detail discussion on issues like NJCS, Arrear payment, delayed Union election at RSP & other Labour related issues. Seeing the importantance of the matter the Minister invited the body for further discussion at New Delhi before the Steel Ministry on 23rd Jun 2014.
On 15/06/2014 BMS organised a grand welcome ceremony to welcome the Hon. Ministry Of Tribal Affairs. Mr.Jual Orma to his home land. Our RIKKS General Secretary Mr. Himanshu Sekher Bal is having a brief discussion with Hon. Minister at our BMS office. Also a Memorandum has given regarding delay in NJCS and Union election at RSP. Before attending the ceremony Hon. Minister has already taken steps to quicken the election order form respective Govt.Depatment.
On 06/03/2014 at 16:00 hrs a mass demonstration with a huge gathering of non-executives of RSP was conducted on behalf of better NJCS Pay scale settlement and earliest payment of arrears at the earliest.Our RIKKS (BMS) General secretary Mr.Himanshu Bal strongly opposed the existing pay scale offered by SAIL management & addressed the unlawful activities of NJCS leaders.
